River City had to make a dense script, a large cast, and an unfamiliar mythology feel instantly understandable. Comedy timing, character acting, locations, and visual continuity all had to work together across a long-form episode—while preserving the handmade personality that made the project distinctive.

MattiBurns developed the visual language from the inside out: character and environment design, story support, animatics, shot planning, animation, title work, music and foley coordination, and final delivery. The production system kept a growing cast and world coherent while leaving room for the strange, deadpan humor at the center of the show.

The result was a complete 16-minute proof-of-concept pilot, followed by continued development and production work for a second episode. River City became a finished viewing, pitching, and festival asset—not just an idea on a page—giving Blind Cat Productions a tangible animated world it could share, test, and continue building.
