Seek The Kingdom First
Matthew 6:31–34 invites designers, entrepreneurs, and creators to release anxiety and trust God’s provision. This reflection encourages business owners and artists to lead from faith and purpose. Follow along as I share this journey of trust and clarity.

📖 | Matthew 6: 31-34 NLT
“So don’t worry about these things, saying, ‘What will we eat? What will we drink? What will we wear?’ These things dominate the thoughts of unbelievers, but your heavenly Father already knows all your needs. Seek the Kingdom of God above all else, and live righteously, and he will give you everything you need. “So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

How Matthew 6 Frees Business Owners From Fear, Hustle, and Survival Mode
Entrepreneurship often feels like standing on a tightrope stretched across tomorrow. You’re balancing invoices, clients, deadlines, uncertainty, prayer, and the weight of responsibility. Beneath the strategies, schedules, and spreadsheets lives an ache nearly every business owner knows but rarely admits out loud:“Am I going to make it?”Ten years ago, in the earliest days of my freelance journey, I wrote a journal entry that captured that ache in raw prayer. I didn’t write it as a business plan. I wrote it as a surrender. Those words became a quiet cornerstone, guiding me through seasons of breakthrough, drought, rebuilding, provision, pruning, and continual dependence on God.Today, more entrepreneurs than ever are battling anxiety, burnout, fear, and spiritual exhaustion. In that climate, the words Jesus spoke in Matthew 6 carry a fresh, disruptive clarity for the modern marketplace. This article is a devotional-business hybrid, written for founders, freelancers, creatives, and leaders who are tired of surviving and ready to live free. It uses my journal entry exactly as written, paired with biblical reflection, to invite business owners out of fear and into Kingdom alignment. We begin where every entrepreneur must begin:At the feet of Jesus.
Father, I love you. Please prepare my mind and heart to seek you and your kingdom above all else. I know you have so much beyond my imagination in store for me. Your gifts are so generous, more than I can ever dream. You own it all. Please, Jesus, transform my heart so that I am completely sold out to you. Align my thoughts, desires, and dreams with your grand plan for my life. I choose you. I want to be fully captivated by who you are. Change me from the inside out so that I say no to sin and unrighteousness. Give me new eyes to see your kingdom first. Remove this fear, worry, doubt, impatience, and hesitation that are not from you and not what you are about. Replace them with everlasting fruit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, and self-control. Thank you for all you do, for all I need to resist evil. Help me to say yes and amen. Father, thank you for giving me the opportunity to go out on my own again and freelance. Please, Jesus, use my availability for your kingdom. I ask you to keep providing work. I don’t want to beg for scraps. That’s not what you’ve called me to do. Pour out your abundant blessings, Father. Thank you, Father. I pray for my parents. Please demonstrate your love for them. I beseech you to mend the relationship between my mother and my sister. Reestablish their closeness and help my mother resist the thoughts of the adversary. Remove those thoughts that lead to death. I pray for Sandy. Please, Jesus, in the name above all names, heal her body. Alleviate her pain and discomfort. Restore her body to its intended functioning. I request that your will be done and release any demonic force that is harming her body in any way. Please, Jesus. Amen. Father, thank you for granting me the opportunity to venture out on my own again and pursue freelance work. Please, Jesus, utilize my availability for your kingdom. I earnestly request that you continue providing work. I do not want to beg for scraps. That’s not what you’ve called me to do. Pour out your abundant blessings, Father. Thank you. I pray for my parents. Please express your love to them. I beseech you to mend the strained relationship between my mother and my sister. Restore their closeness and help my mother remain silent against the thoughts of the adversary. Remove those thoughts that could lead to death. I pray for Sandy. Please, Jesus, in the name above all names, heal her body. Alleviate her pain and discomfort. Restore her body to its intended functioning. I request that your will be done and release any demonic force that is harming her body in any way. Please, Jesus.
🔥 | Revelation & Reflection - 10 years later.
So, it was July 16, 2017. Today, January 20, 2026, marks the beginning of 2026. That’s when I embarked on my entrepreneurial journey. It’s been an incredible whirlwind. Overall, I feel incredibly blessed by God. He has provided for my daily needs and all that I require. However, He also encouraged me to grow and change.
Reflecting on those early words, I see myself as that kid who felt his life completely restarted when he moved to St. Louis. That kid is still me, and I hope to look back in 10 years with faith, knowing that just as God provided then—when I had only $35 to my name, started a business, and received an unexpected project—I never looked back. Despite the ups and downs, I got married to Amanda, bought a house, welcomed our boys, worked on significant projects, and built an incredible portfolio. Each time momentum waned, I had something solid to build on, creating a sense of moving from glory to glory. The hard work, effort, God’s grace, and abundance have led to increasingly more opportunities, which I find truly remarkable. Now, when I look ahead ten years, knowing where I’m headed, I’d love to walk in faith, knowing that, despite the challenges, I had $35 to my name, started a business, received a project unexpectedly, and never looked back. It was a journey with its ups and downs, but through it all, I got married to Amanda, bought a house, welcomed our boys into our lives, and worked on some significant projects. I’ve built an incredible portfolio, and every time the momentum seems to come to an end, I have something to build on from the past. It feels like I’m ascending from glory to glory, and the hard work, effort, and God’s grace continue to fuel my journey. I find it truly amazing.
